MAAGP Annual Meeting

April 29, 2009 Meeting Minutes 

 

The MAAGP Annual Meeting and Luncheon was held at the Wardlaw Center at Georgia Tech from 11 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesday April 29, 2009 in lieu of the regular monthly meeting at Georgia Tech Research Institute. 

 

Attendees: Amanda Day, Cathy Brown, Danny Blitch, Daiquiri Long, Eden Freeman,Jennie Viers, Jennifer Allen, Kelly Hopkins, Kelly Jones, Kimberly Hays, Marie Netto,Pat Sheppard, Judith Brauer – 1st timer, Patrice Hughes – 1st timer, Sterling Whitehead – 1st timer 

 

I.                    Welcome and Introduction:  Following an informal lunch and networking time, at noon, Chapter President Amanda Day welcomed attendees and reviewed the agenda.

II.                 Minutes-  Minutes from the March meeting were not available.

III.               State Representative Report: No updates from the national office to report

IV.              Treasurer Eden Freeman reported the balance of $1,097.30      

VI.        Amanda presented the slate of officers for 2009-2010 for MAGP:

Eden Freeman, President                        Danny Blitch, Vice President                        Vince Fulghum, Treasurer                        Kimberly Hays de Muga, Secretary                

Following a unanimous vote of approval, Amanda swore in each officer. 

V.                 New Business:

1.      AAGP asked MAAGP to volunteer at AAGP table at the Council on Foundations Annual Conference in Atlanta May 4-6.  Amanda passed around a sign-up sheet.   

2.      Free Annual Membership:  AAGP offers free membership to each chapter.  Following discussion on how best to use membership, Kimberly moved that two free memberships, one from AAGP and one paid for by MAAGP, be given away in a competitive, on-line mini-grant submission.  Cathy Brown moved to amend the first motion by offering the AAGP membership first in the same process, and then evaluated the response before offering a second free membership out of the MAAGP treasury. Amended motion unanimously approved.  New Chapter President Eden Freeman asked that Kimberly and Cathy consider serving on the review committee for the free membership.
